About the Department
The Science Department is well-established team of over 20 teachers and 4 technicians. We have an excellent record of academic success at both GCSE and A Level. Over 40% of our students study a Science based degree at top competitive UK and oversees universities, with many students taking places at Oxbridge, Imperial College, and almost 100% success levels over the last 5 years in Medicine, Dentist and Veterinary Medicine course applications. The majority of our students follow the Separate Science pathway, with approximately 25% opting for Combined Science. The Sixth Form is academically strong and a large number of students choose Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A Level.
What You Will Do
As a Teacher of Chemistry at Surbiton High School, you will:
Deliver engaging, challenging and well‑structured lessons across KS3–5.
Create an inspiring classroom environment that supports curiosity, confidence and independent thinking.
Monitor progress effectively and implement targeted interventions where needed.
Provide high‑quality marking, assessment and feedback in line with School policies.
Contribute to the wider life of the School through clubs, enrichment and educational visits.
Play an active role in pastoral care as a Form Tutor or Deputy Form Tutor.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop schemes of work, resources and best practice.
Embrace professional learning opportunities and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
