Our Sports Department is made up of individuals who genuinely love what they do. Many of our team have competed and coached at national and Olympic level, and you will work alongside colleagues who share your commitment, knowledge and ambition. Among the many strengths of Surbiton High School, our PE and Sports provision is widely celebrated as outstanding. Our large team of talented, enthusiastic teachers, coaches and support staff deliver exceptional opportunities for pupils of all abilities and interests. The School has excelled in its “Super Eight” sports, with 75 national selections in the past 5 years, 76 national titles and 51 regional successes in the past 3 years, and participation in over 88 national competitions and over 1,000 fixtures each year. At the same time, we maintain an inclusive, welcoming programme where every pupil can discover a place in sport and physical activity.

Football is one of our standout successes; last season our teams won 6 out of 8 English Schools National Cup age groups, and 2 out of 3 Independent Schools National Cup age groups. This season is looking equally strong, with our U13 – U18 teams through to the English Schools National Cup quarter-finals, and our U15 team through to the Independent Schools National Cup final in April. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to girls’ football development, our Head of Football has recently been awarded the ISFA Educator of the Year 2025.
