EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant at Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School

Start Date: September 2026
Salary: FTE £29,536 – £33,225 (actual salary TBC depending on working pattern)
Contract: Permanent, part-time (2 days per week), 38 weeks per year
Working Pattern: Thursday and Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, 15 hours per week

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young learners? Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School is seeking an EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing and high-achieving environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning during these crucial early years.

What you’ll do:
Support pupils across the EYFS/KS1 curriculum, promoting engagement and independence
Assist class teachers with lesson preparation, delivery and classroom organisation
Deliver targeted interventions, including phonics and small group support
Observe and record pupil progress, contributing to ongoing assessment
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
Support pupils’ wellbeing and contribute to strong pastoral care
Assist with co-curricular activities, school events and educational visits
Supervise pupils during key points of the school day, including break and lunchtime

What we’re looking for:
GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) is essential
Experience working with children in EYFS/KS1
A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to use initiative
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Enthusiasm for education and supporting young children’s development

Qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, ELSA training, or First Aid certification would be advantageous but are not essential.
