We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to lead our Performing Arts faculty as Director of Performing Arts, with oversight of Drama, Music, Dance and Oracy.

St Joseph's College is a vibrant independent day and boarding school in Ipswich providing a broad and seamless education for over 590 boys and girls aged 2 - 19. We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to lead our Performing Arts faculty as Director of Performing Arts, with oversight of Drama, Music, Dance and Oracy. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a dynamic individual with a clear vision for the performing arts and a strong track record of inspiring both staff and students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic development and operational leadership of Drama, Dance, and Oracy, supporting subject leads to deliver outstanding teaching and learning, foster innovation in curriculum design, and promote high levels of student participation and achievement across all disciplines.

With a specialism in Drama and a passion for Oracy, the Director of Performing Arts will play a pivotal role in shaping the creative direction of the school, building on our proud tradition of performance, collaboration and student engagement.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a deep commitment to the value of the performing arts in education.
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Can inspire and support colleagues across disciplines.
  • Brings creativity, energy, and vision to curriculum development.
  • Has experience of successful teaching within Drama.
  • Can contribute to the teaching of English at Key Stage 3 or 4 (desirable but not essential).
