Main Purpose of the Role

  • To deliver high-quality teaching and learning to pupils, with a primary focus, in a class-based setting.
  • To provide flexible teaching across KS1-KS2, adapting to the needs of the school community.
  • To support pupils’ academic progress, personal development, and well-being.
  • As an all through school, there may be opportunities to work across our setting.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across the primary curriculum, ensuring all pupils make good progress.

· Teach a class, with the flexibility to move across year groups (KS1-KS3) as required.

· Differentiate teaching to meet the varying needs and abilities of pupils.

· Create a positive, safe and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and personal growth.

· Monitor, assess and record pupils’ progress, providing regular feedback to pupils and parents.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enrich the curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities.

· Support the school’s ethos by fostering a culture of respect, kindness and service.

· Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s behaviour policy.

· Participate in school events, meetings, and ongoing professional development.

· Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils in line with statutory requirements and school policy.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

· Evidence of relevant, ongoing professional development

Experience

· Successful teaching experience in a primary school setting (KS1, KS2 and/or KS3)

· Experience of teaching mixed-ability groups

· Experience with class-based teaching and curriculum planning

Skills and Knowledge

· Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies

· Ability to adapt teaching to meet a range of needs across KS1-KS2

· Strong classroom management skills

· Effective use of assessment to support learning

· Excellent communication and organisational skills

· Good IT skills, including the use of learning management systems

· Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection requirements

Personal Qualities

· High expectations for all pupils and a passion for supporting their development

· Commitment to upholding and promoting the values and ethos of St George’s School

· Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, pupils and families
