We are excited to be recruiting for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry to join our thriving and highly successful Science Department.
The Role and Department:
The Chemistry Department consists of 7 teachers with the support of a full-time technician. The successful candidate will report into The Head of Chemistry, who reports into the overall Head of Science.
There are five labs in the department which are very well resourced.
All the Sciences are taught as separate subjects and pupils can choose either 2 or three Science GCSEs. Maximum class size at GCSE is 24, although this number will decrease over the next few years. Sixth form sets usually number 12-14 candidates.
GCSE Chemistry results have been very strong over the last few years; the syllabus is Edexcel IGCSE.
We follow the CIE syllabus at A Level and due to the popularity of the subject, we have added a third set.
The candidate appointed will have impressive subject knowledge and a desire to be part of a team of committed professionals within the Science Department and the whole school.
All members of the teaching staff are involved in the School’s tutorial and pastoral systems and are expected to be involved in the Activities Curriculum provided to the pupils.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
