French Language Assistant

Summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic French Language Assistant to deliver conversational lessons both on a one-to-one basis, and small groups of pupils.

PART TIME 4 HOURS MAX PER WEEK , FIXED TERM CONTRACT FROM FEBRUARY UP TO END OF MAY 2026.

The candidate appointed will be a native level speaker of French and will help students in the preparation for their speaking exams and develop their cultural knowledge. The candidate will have a desire to be part of a team of committed professionals within the MFL Department.  You will be required to work for 4 hours per week, during lunch time over 3 days a week (ideally Monday, Thursday, Friday), term time only. This position is based on an hourly rate commensurate with experience.

This role does not come with sponsorship.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one to one sessions with Sixth Form students to assist them with the speaking component of their A Level examination.
  • Conduct small group sessions with students in Forms 3 -5 to assist them with the speaking component of their IGCSE examination.
  • Maintain knowledge of IGCSE and A-Level requirements, with particular regard to the speaking elements.
  • Promote Modern Foreign Languages to students.
  • Motivate, encourage and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Be familiar with the aims and objectives of the Department as outlined in the departmental handbook.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
